{"id":1651,"date":"2019-06-12T16:16:25","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T19:16:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fsantosteste.com\/the-future-of-pint-media-in-a-digital-world\/"},"modified":"2024-03-16T09:53:56","modified_gmt":"2024-03-16T12:53:56","slug":"the-future-of-pint-media-in-a-digital-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.knewin.com\/en\/blog\/the-future-of-pint-media-in-a-digital-world\/","title":{"rendered":"The Future of Print Media in a Digital World"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>What does the future hold for print media in a\ndigital world?&nbsp; Technology has altered the\nway consumers choose to create and receive their information, make purchases\nand interact with brands during this digital boom era.&nbsp; The change has naturally disrupted the media\nsector and the manner in which companies reach consumers.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The Digital Boom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A preference for digital can be attributed to a\nfew factors; it\u2019s less expensive than print media, can be produced and updated\nmuch faster, and allows for more insight over demographics and consumer\ninformation.&nbsp; In addition, millennials\nand younger generations are used to the instant nature of digital content available\naround the clock.&nbsp; But is digital really\nreplacing print media or should it be viewed as a notable addition to the media\nmix? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The capability of print has definitely declined\ndue to the spread of digital media and other technological improvements.&nbsp; Many notable Latin American publications have\nseen some closures recently; mass media giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.televisa.com\/\">Televisa<\/a>\nrecently closed their offices in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latercera.com\/la-tercera-pm\/noticia\/23-anos-editando-revistas-la-trastienda-del-cierre-de-televisa-en-chile\/537610\/\">Chile<\/a>, which shut down\nlong-standing <em>Caras, Vanidades, Harper\u2019s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan<\/em>, and <em>Women\u2019s\nHealth<\/em> among a couple of others; magazines that had been in circulation for\nover 30 years.&nbsp; And while there\u2019s no\nquestion that the digital boom has permanently changed the media landscape, it\nis also important to note that the tangible attributes of physical media\nremains important to a large percentage of consumers.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>The Power of Real<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tangibility of print media is inherently in\nconsumers\u2019 collective memory.&nbsp; Because\nreaders have to pick it up, hold it and actively engage with printed content to\nread it, they pay more attention.&nbsp; With\ndigital content, readers can passively scroll through it without focusing too\nmuch before moving on.&nbsp;&nbsp; The\nuninterrupted reading experience of print also means a more captivated audience\nbecause a reader is more likely to finish a story when there are no\ndistractions like other news, pop-up videos, ads, or messages taking their\nattention.&nbsp; Sure, nowadays information is\nmore accessible but simultaneously less reliable that it used to be leaving\nprint media with a potential to prosper.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our very own Lany Blanco, Founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.editorial-link.com\">Editorial Link<\/a> now Vice President of Latin America at <a href=\"https:\/\/knewin.com\/?lang=en\">Knewin<\/a>, a media monitoring and analytics agency that offers extensive print and social media coverage in Latin America and the Caribbean, agreed in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessoffashion.com\/articles\/global-currents\/the-growing-power-of-latin-fashion-media\">BOF article<\/a> last year that there is still an attachment to traditional magazines.&nbsp; \u201cProbably 80 percent of advertising spend in still in print media,\u201d she said, referring to luxury brands noting that \u201clittle by little\u201d brands have started to invest in digital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/knewin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1956\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/knewin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1959\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/knewin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/3-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1962\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/knewin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1965\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Different Channels, Different Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several publishers who are\nsuccessful in print media have been using their strengths to adapt their\npublications to the current environment.
